Name : Wendy Arnold-Conlan
Name and address of Children’s Centre : Butterfly Meadows Children’s Centre, Tadmarton Road, Bloxham, Oxon OX15 4QX
When does your Dads Group meet ? 1st Saturday of every month from 10am – 12 noon
What can the Dads and their children do at your Group ? Messy play, cooking, junk modelling,  various activities that involve useful and interesting learning experiences, physical play, outdoor activities , planned visitors, social networking, health information. Refreshments – Bacon/sausage butties!
What do they enjoy the most ? Outdoor play/activities, workshops, most dads/male carers have said they enjoy having somewhere to come and spend time with their children in a fun and welcoming environment.
Why is Dads work important to you and what do you enjoy most about it ? I think it is really important to create opportunities for dads/male carers to interact with their children by taking part in fun and useful learning experiences  and to have the chance to meet up with other male carers in a welcoming environment to encourage social networking. The success and positive feedback is very rewarding, I love the fact that dads/male carers often comment that they enjoy the chance to meet up with other male carers and that they get to take part in activities  with their children that they would not normally do.
Which Father Figure (fact/fiction/past/present) do you admire the most and why ? My dad who unfortunately passed away 13 years ago. He taught me many useful life skills and all about nature and growing things and I enjoyed spending many happy times with him in the garden when I was young. My dad was often emotionally distant…. verbally and physically but I always felt safe and very loved by him. If he was here now I would give him the biggest hug to thank him.
